The following 20 economic initiatives have been culled from dozens of statewide, regional and legislative proposals put forward throughout the years. Some have been implemented in part but could be expanded. Others have remained ideas only.

Some initiatives would be one-time projects, while others would involve changing systems over time. Some require spending. Others require cutting.

Closings - Emergency Warming Center

Brownville and Milo Town Offices will be closed tomorrow , December 10
due to the inclement weather moving into the TRC area.
Brownville Selectmen's Meeting is cancelled.
Milo Public Library and AOS 43 are closed.
Penquis (CAP) offices in Dover-Foxcroft, Bangor, Lincoln, Rockland;
Penquis Transportation, Head Start/Child Care/Child Development are also closed
If you need shelter overnight, or you need to warm up for any reason,
Milo Town Hall will be open for an emergency shelter/warming center.

 


Penquis Valley graduate completes basic military training

WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
* LOCATIONS: NORTHERN & EAST CENTRAL, MAINE.
* HAZARD TYPES: SNOW MIXING WITH SLEET & FREEZING RAIN.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 10 INCHES.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS: ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF OF AN INCH.
* TIMING: BEGINNING LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON & CONTINUING INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
* IMPACTS: HIGH IMPACT POSSIBLE. EXPECT TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. SNOW.SLEET & ICE WILL PRODUCE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS.
ACCUMULATION OF WET SNOW & ICE MAY CAUSE TREE LIMBS TO SNAP WITH SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES POSSIBLE.
* WINDS: NORTHEAST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.
* TEMPERATURES: IN THE UPPER 20'S.
* VISIBILITIES: ONE HALF OF A MILE OR LESS IN HEAVY SNOW.

"Overnight: Snow, mainly after 1am. Low around 15... Total nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Saturday: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 8am, then snow and freezing rain. High near 32...New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Saturday Night: A chance of rain, mixing with snow after 8pm, then gradually ending. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 20...Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 22."
