Sweep Away Cancer! Broomball Tournament

Dover-Foxcroft – The Foxcroft Academy Key Club and American Cancer Society are partnering to invite you to Sweep Away Cancer at a Broomball tournament being held on Sunday, January 26th at 12:30pm at the Piscataquis County Ice Arena in Dover-Foxcroft. http://www.thepcia.com/

This fun, fast-paced sport takes gliding on the ice up a notch.  Move around the ice surface using your own boots or shoes (no ice grippers) while wearing the certified helmet of your choice (bicycle, skateboard, snowboard, ski, hockey, etc). We’ve got the sticks; you bring the energy! Each team of 5 players will have the opportunity to participate in this fun tournament to help sweep away cancer.

Sign-up today to honor a cancer survivor, remember loved ones, or support someone currently battling cancer. The event will be capped at 12 teams, turn in your forms early to the ice arena to be part of this great event. Registration form and entry fee needed to register your team.

The cost is just $35 to play ($175 for a team of 5), which includes two games, a pizza buffet, and a free skate and lighting of the luminary ceremony to close the event.

Three Rivers Kiwanis bestows Robshaw and Rolfe with Book Awards

THREE RIVERS KIWANIS BOOK AWARDS — The Three Rivers Milo-Brownville Kiwanis Club is pleased to give Book Awards in the amount of $500 to a pair of Penquis Valley High School graduates who apply for in the spring and complete their first semester of college. Cymeria Robshaw was one of the recipients this year. She is enrolled at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where she finished her first semester studying Pre-Med Biology in preparation to ultimately become an orthodontist. Robshaw graduated third in her class from Penquis Valley, where she was a track star for the Patriots. She has joined the track team at Holy Cross. Camryn Marie Rolfe, who is attending Husson University In Bangor, was also awarded $500. Rolfe and Robshaw were both active members of the Kiwanis-sponsored Key Club.
