|BROWNVILLE - Russell Everett Hall, 71, of Brownville Junction, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018 at his son's home in Petal, MS.|
There will be a Celebration of Life in Maine Memorial Weekend 2019; with his burial the following week at the Togus Veterans Cemetery.
Russell was born in Freeport, ME, on August 30, 1947. He attended Freeport High School and then served in the Army as a 62E40 Construction Machine Operator from August 1964 to April 1969. During this time Sergeant Hall served in France along with 3 tours in Vietnam and a short amount of stateside duty.
Russell was previously married to Cheryl Edith Taylor(McNeil) of Dover-Foxcroft (now of Richland, MO) from 1972 to 1996.
Russell worked on the railroad and then as a carpenter for many years where he always tried to help out those that needed assistance. He enjoyed his peaceful summers on the Pleasant River in Brownville where "old fishin' buddies" were always welcome. For many years he spent his winters in the south visiting his children and grandchildren.
He was very proud to be a Veteran and proud of all Veterans; especially of all his children's Army service.
Russell is survived by his mother, Phyllis of Freeport; his sons, Derek and Brian of Petal, MS; his daughter, Julie of Eureka Springs, AR; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; along with numerous other friends and family.
In lieu of flowers we ask that the next time you see a Veteran please shake their hand and thank them for their service. That's what he would want everyone to do.
