Katherine Allen Osgood

MILO - Katherine Allen Osgood, 93, wife of the late Gardner E. Osgood, died Oct. 29, 2013, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Milo, the daughter of Abner F. and Sara H. (Carver) Allen.

Katherine was a graduate of Milo High School, class of 1938. She worked in Cambridge, Mass., and attended the Baptist Institute for Christian Workers. She married Gardner E. Osgood on April 12, 1941, and then worked at the Town and Country Clothing Store, the American Thread Company, and the Milo Free Public Library. She was a member of the United Baptist Church for 78 years where she taught Sunday School and Junior Church, and sang in the choir.

She is survived by two children, Sylvia (Osgood) Black, and Gardner Anthony "Tony" Osgood and his wife, Diane; four grandchildren, Julie Ferris and her husband, Ray, Janet Chase and her husband, Christopher, Bryan Osgood and his wife, Kristy, and Eric Osgood and his wife, Liz; and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Myrtle C. Jameson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Gertrude Leighton, and Edna C. Stevens; and a brother, James Maurice Allen.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at Milo United Baptist Church, with Pastor Phil McGlauflin officiating. Burial will be in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery.
