ORONO - Velma L. Leveille, 78, passed away Dec. 14, 2012, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Milo, the daughter of David B. and Marjorie (Dwelley) Eldridge.

Velma was raised in Brewer and was a graduate of Brewer High School, class of 1952. After graduation she went on to work at Bangor Hydro before meeting her husband, James Leveille. Together they raised two sons. For 25 years Velma worked as Orono High School's library aide. She was full of love and appreciation for people, and she shared that with the people she worked with. Velma loved to sing in the choir at St. Mary's Parish, Orono. She was a very loving and caring person and always put her family ahead of herself. Velma loved her trips to the coast to see her father, and especially her trips with Joe to Bar Harbor and Belfast.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Leveille. Velma is survived by her two sons, Joseph and Michael Leveille; a niece, Ashley Leveille; one brother, Cpt. David Eldridge of Ashburn, Va.; a cousin, Beverly Hill-Morrison of Baileyville; and a special friend, Barbara Sylvia of Orono. The family thanks the Orono Ambulance crew for their care and kindness shown toward Velma in her times of need.

At Velma's request, there will be no church service at this time. A graveside service will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, Velma would like people to make donations in her name to a charity of their choice . Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Birmingham Funeral Home.
