LAGRANGE - Charles R. "Bud" Huntley, 89, passed away Oct. 25, 2012. Bud was born Aug. 17, 1923, in LaGrange.

Bud spent the last 28 months of his life at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He often referred to the facility as his "other" home and always spoke fondly of the staff. Bud ran a dairy farm with his wife of more than 60 years, Edna. Bud enjoyed going to Eastport, where he, Edna and their friends enjoyed fishing near Eastport and the Cobscook Bay area. Bud also enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. Bud served during World War II, from 1942 to 1946, where he was in the 203 Military Police Company and served as an aircraft link trainer/operator-instructor for would-be pilots for the European Theater. During his farming life he was a technician for Eastern Artificial Insemination Co-Op for 25 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Bud will be remembered by the wry sense of humor and his antics. He was a generous man, often lending his farm equipment to those needing some help.

He was predeceased by his sister, Heloise "Honey" Tilton; and his son, Clifford. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edna; and his children, Carl and his wife, Kathy, of Damascus, Md., and Patty of Bangor. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Andrea, Jon and Alex Huntley, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, LaGrange. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Maine Veterans Home, Unit D, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401. For an online guest book, please visit www.clayfuneralhome.com.
