OLD TOWN - Curtis J. York, 64, died unexpectedly May 7, 2012, surrounded by his family at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 7, 1947, in Milo, son of James and Marguerite (Gerrish) York. Curtis graduated from Brownville Junction High School, class of 1967, where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He continued his education at the University of Maine, Orono. He was employed at Grant's Dairy for more than 23 years as a route driver and sales supervisor, and then he worked for 15 years in various positions at the Old Town and Brewer Hannaford stores, retiring January 2011. During his younger years he was an avid bowler and after retirement he took great pleasure with home improvements and riding his motorcycle. Curtis was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be remembered for his playful teasing. His kind smile and warm heart will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan of Old Town; two children: son, Curtis York Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Bangor and daughter, Amy York of Old Town; four grandchildren, Christopher and Derek Kennedy and Matthew and Makayla York; aunts, Sylvia Chick of Stetson and Kathleen Sinclair of Brownville; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Private funeral services were held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town.
