Maurice William Smart

LITTLE BOYD LAKE - Maurice William Smart, 87, husband of Eva (Hall) Smart, died Feb. 13, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 23, 1924, in Charleston, the son of the late Earl and Vera (Leathers) Smart. Maurice served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed by Milo Highway Department for more than 30 years. Maurice is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Eva of Little Boyd Lake; three sons, Scott Smart and his wife, Una, of Brownville Junction, Monte Smart of Frenchboro and Randy Smart and his wife, Cindy, of Milo; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Jimmy Karpowicz and his wife, Brenda, of Little Boyd Lake; and a special niece, Laurie (Hall) Folsom of Carmel. He was predeceased by three brothers, Harry, Harris and Doug Smart; two sisters, Bernice Williams and Pearl Pratt; and a special daughter-in-law, JoAnn Smart. The family thanks friends and family for their support during this time, with a special thank you to Eastern Maine Medical Center and the dialysis center nurses for everything they have done. Friends and family are invited to call 1 p.m. until the time of memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with Pastor Pam Mushero officiating.
