TROY AND UNITY - Percy L."Buster" Smart Jr., 90, died Nov. 4, 2011, at his son's residence in Unity. He was born June 3, 1921, in Milo, a son of Percy and Florence Smart Sr. He attended Corinna schools and served in the U.S. Army with the 41st Engineering Battalion during World War II. He was employed for many years at Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna, and retired as a truck driver with Corbett Brothers of Waterville. Buster was predeceased by his wife, Gladys (Wilson) Smart. He is survived by his son, Dennis and his wife, Claire Smart, of Unity; a daughter, Mary Ellen and husband, Everett Rines, of Palmyra; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Mary Bessey. There will be no visiting hours. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Pittsfield Village Cemetery with the Rev. Elizabeth Sullivan officiating.
