Jessie G. Leveille

WEST ENDFIELD - Jessie G. Leveille, 85, wife of the late Ernest L. Leveille Sr., passed away Sept. 29, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 29, 1926, in Red Beach, the daughter of Edgar and Elsie (Glidden) Gardner. During World War II, Jessie worked at the South Portland Shipyard. She worked at a tree farm in Greenbush and for Dexter Shoe, Milo, where she retired after 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting and going out to lunch with her friends. She was a member of Leveille-Shorey Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, West Enfield, and Enfield Elders. She is survived by a son, Ernest Leveille Jr. and Debbie Nadeau of Howland; a daughter, Georgianna Babin and James of Scarborough; four grandchildren, Kali Leveille-Nadeau of New Hampshire, Conan Nadeau of Milbridge, Jeffrey Babin and Judy, and Susan Babin and Seth Cheikin, all of Portland; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Babin, Jethro and Sylvia Cheikin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lillian and Tom Ewing of Florida, Blaine Leveille of West Enfield and Wayne and Noreen Leveille of Howland; several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a special niece, Regina Fleming. In addition to her husband, Ernest, she was predeceased by a brother, Munroe Gardner. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at West Enfield Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations in Jessie's memory to Eastern Maine Medical Center Palliative Care Program or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
