SEBEC - Kenneth F. Viner, 67, of East Drive, died peacefully April 27, 2011, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Wendell and Mary (Boisjoli) Viner. Ken worked for years for the state of Rhode Island, first as the director of security for Attorney General Dennis J. Roberts II and then for Rhode Island Capitol Police before retiring to Maine in 1995. An avid sportsman, Ken had been a member of Professional Archery Association. In his retirement he enjoyed many outdoor activities in his adopted home state of Maine. He is survived by his wife, Judith (Nelson) Viner, also of Sebec. Ken is also survived by his family in Rhode Island: sons, Michael, and James and his wife, Lori; a granddaughter, Adessa; one great-granddaughter; his sister, Lois Winch; his brother, Donald Viner and his wife, Pat; and his sister, Phyllis Plouffe. A member of Brownville Community Church, he also leaves many cherished friends with whom he enjoyed many good times. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Brownville Community Church, 84 Church St., Brownville. A private celebration of life will be at a later date in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, contributions to either the church or Mayo Regional Oncology Clinic, 891 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426, would be appreciated.
