Gharda A. Rogers

BREWER AND BROWNVILLE JCT. - Gharda A. Rogers passed away peacefully Oct. 21, 2010, surrounded by her family at Orono Commons. She was born May 12, 1922, in McAdam, New Brunswick, the daughter of Lottie and William Graves. Gharda attended Husson College and completed many courses from American Institute of Banking. Mom always instilled in her children the importance of education. She retired from Bangor Savings Bank after many years of service. She spent the past year and a half lovingly cared for at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, BetteJean and Bob Beers in Brewer, where she loved having family and friends visit. She loved her family, her friends, going to church, traveling and was always ready for an adventure, happily enjoying many. She was fortunate to have a loving extended family and friends who brought much joy to her life. Surviving are her sister, Gwynne Gendreau of Holland, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Erika Graves of Venice, Fla.; her children, BetteJean Beers and her husband, Bob, of Brewer, Anne Joy Burke and her husband, Charles, of Argyle and Chery Greer and her husband, Matthew, of Conway, N.H.; a daughter-in-law, Crystal Rogers of Orland; grandchildren, Anne Marie Brown of Brewer, Alison and Herbert Melanson of Orono, Darren Beers of Burlington, Vt., Christopher and Lynn Greer of Portland, Nicholas Greer of Conway, N.H., David Grindal of Old Town, Kristie Rae and Tim Gerber of Johnstown, Pa., Frank H. Rogers and his partner, Mary, of Pittsburgh, Melissa Rogers and her partner, Mark, and Jamie Rogers, all of Johnstown, Pa., and Carmen Rogers and her partner, Robbie, of Bangor; great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Brian of Brewer, Lauren Ashley and Andrew of Orono, Michael, Abby, Bobby, Brandon, Jordan, Jacob and Aieden, all of Johnstown, Pa., and Ansley of Bangor; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and niece, John and Denise Graves of Brownville; extended family and friends. Mom had an abundant life. Gharda was predeceased by her husband, Frank H. Rogers; a son, Frank H. Rogers III; a daughter-in-law, Martha Rogers; a son-in-law, Douglas Gould; brothers, William and Garvin Graves; and a sister, Doreen Graves. A celebration of Gharda's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at First United Methodist Church, 40 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. George E. Curtis, pastor, presiding. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be immediately afterward in the church center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
