Shirley M. Rhoda

MILO - Shirley M. Rhoda, 86, wife of the late Earl M. Rhoda, died Oct. 24, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home, after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Orneville, the daughter of Richard and Catherine (Rolfe) Hoxie. A graduate of Milo High School, Shirley was a member of Pleasant River Grange, Neighborly Christmas Club, Happy Hour Club, Milo Garden Club and Three Rivers Senior Citizens. She sold vegetables with her husband, Earl, for many years. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and bingo. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, attending local fairs and especially visits with her family. She is survived by three sons, Cedric Rhoda and his wife, Linda, Stephen Rhoda and his wife, Louise, all of Milo, and Paul Rhoda and his wife, Joanie, of Washington; a daughter, Susan Quimby and her husband, Kenneth, of Canterbury, Conn.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Earl M. Rhoda; four brothers and five sisters. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hibbard Nursing Home for their loving care of Shirley during the last three years. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, with the Rev. Michele St. Cyr officiating.
