Donald S. Cobb

BROWNVILLE JCT. - Donald S. Cobb, 89, husband of Helen (Fletcher) Cobb, died Jan. 17, 2010, with his family by his side at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Brownville Junction, the son of John and May (Beharell) Cobb. A graduate of Brownville Junction High School, Class of 1938, he served with the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. Donald retired from Great Northern Paper Co. in 1983, where he had worked as a welder pipefitter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and just being outdoors. He spent much of his youth with his father and brother, Johnny, at Katahdin Iron Works and at Schoodic Lake. Later in life, he had a camp at Schoodic Lake, which he especially enjoyed with his family. He was a beloved man and will be missed by his family. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen of Brownville Junction; a daughter, Donna Morrill and her husband, Larry, of Brownville Junction; a special brother-in-law, James Fletcher and his wife, Shirley; four grandchildren, Jill Cobb and her partner, Susan Bray, Doni Cobb and his wife, Wendy, Amy Morrison and her husband, Wayne, and Jamie Morrill; seven great-grandchildren, Chase Cobb, Kyle Cobb, Brian Cobb, Alexander Morrison, Benjamin Morrison, Kiran Morrill and Lauren Morrill; several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by a special family friend, P.J. Shomers. Donald was predeceased by a son, Harold "Sonny"; a daughter-in-law, Judy Shomers; a brother, Johnny Cobb; and a sister, Jean Ashton.
