BERNARD - Michael Alan Lewis, 16, died unexpectedly Aug. 19, 2009, in Tremont. He was born Oct. 7, 1992, in Cocoa Beach, Fla., son of David A. Lewis and Angela B. Dorval.

Michael was going to enter 11th grade at Mount Desert Island High School this fall. Michael enjoyed being outdoors. His passion was riding four-wheelers, snowmobiles and racing his dirt bike, No. 41, with his special friends, Ryan, Aaron, Cole, Elliot, Jake, K.J., Ross and Blake; and Michael's special little cousin, Patrick. Michael had a special talent with drawing and graffiti art. He was the type of kid who would do anything for anybody. Michael had a special, close relationship with his Mom. He had a huge heart, a gorgeous smile and a contagious laugh that will never be forgotten. As most of you know from his MySpace page what he enjoyed most was putting a smile on anyone's face that he could. He loved to see everybody happy; and wanted everyone's life to be perfect. He believed that "everything happens for a reason."

He is survived by his mother, Angela Dorval and "stepdad," Dalton Dalzell, of Bass Harbor; his father, David Lewis and wife, Kathi, of Sebec; sister, Genevieve Lewis; stepsisters, Sara Willis of Milo and Kate Willis of Dover-Foxcroft; stepbrother, Alan Willis of Sebec; maternal grandmother, Barbara Janis of Florida; maternal grandfather, Roland Dorval of Orneville; paternal grandmother, Nancy Hunt; paternal grandfather, Ralph Lewis; great-grandmother, Helen Nicholas, all of Dover-Foxcroft; special cousins, Patrick and Erin Hanley of Bass Harbor, Autumn Roberts of Milo and Tyler Baker of Guilford; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Tremont Consolidated School Gym/Community Center with the Rev. Dr. Wayne J. Buchanan officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Michael Lewis Memorial Fund at any Bar Harbor Bank & Trust location. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
