Clair E. Taylor

MILO - Clair E. Taylor, 79, husband of Joyce (Decker) Taylor, passed away Aug. 7, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Sebec, the son of Harry and Ruth (Hall) Taylor. Clair was a 1948 graduate of Milo High School and a 1950 graduate of Husson College. He served his country for four years with the U.S. Army National Guard. He worked for the state of Maine as an accountant from 1950 to 1953. In 1954 Clair returned to the family dairy farm in Sebec and continued there until 1963. At that time he began to serve as selectman for the town of Sebec. In 1964 he was hired with the Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service and worked his way up the USDA ladder until he retired in 1993. He was a proud member of the Masonic Association, Piscataquis Lodge No. 44 AF & AM in Milo, and Shriner's Association of North America. Clair was predeceased by a brother, Charles; and a sister, Charlene Kerr. He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Milo; four children, Wayne Taylor of Augusta, Wendy Taylor of Bangor, Terri Libby of Bradford and Becky Simonson and her husband, John, of Greene; three grandchildren, Eric Simonson, Cody Libby and Emma Taylor; a nephew, Scott Taylor of Dover-Foxcroft and his family; and nieces, Kenene Weymouth of Indiana, Linda Brown of Corinth, Brenda Johnson of Dover-Foxcroft, Marcia Fair of Sebec and their families. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, in the family lot at Sebec Corner Cemetery with Pastor David Mumford officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family after the service at 150 Hovey Road, Milo. At Clair's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pine Tree Hospice, 883 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
