Peter Paul Patten

ATKINSON - Peter Paul Patten, 45, husband of Tonya (Smith) Patten, died unexpectedly June 17, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1963, in Nashua, N.H., the son of Irving and Gladys (Weston) Patten. Peter farmed with his family as a child in Virginia and eventually moved to Maine. He took over his father's farming operation in 1990 and began to expand it. In 1992, he and Tonya began farming together and gradually built the business that they operate today. He took great pride in his work and his family. Peter will always be remembered for his mischievous grin and his love of practical jokes. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Tonya; his five children, Haley, Shelby, Kelly, Henry and Harvey, all of Atkinson; two brothers, Ronald and his wife, Karen, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Donald and his wife, Darlene, of Milo; a sister, June of Virginia; his mother, Gladys of East Dover; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father; and a brother, Frank. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A funeral service will be conducted 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at United Baptist Church, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Ray Beless officiating. After the service friends and family are invited to share memories and fellowship at the family farm.
