CORINTH AND ATKINSON - Carleton J. Buck, 78, the husband of Joyce (Kelley) Buck, died peacefully March 28, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Atkinson, son of Grover and Vera (McCorrison) Buck. Carleton grew up in Atkinson and graduated from Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army and after basic training, became a chaplain's assistant at Camp Drum, N.Y. He operated a dairy farm for many years and also worked at Fayscott Machine Shop, Dexter, for more than 32 years. He was a former deacon and a very active member of Living Word Assembly of God Church, Dover-Foxcroft, for more than 50 years. He enjoyed working at Living Word Food Pantry, Dover-Foxcroft, and as a former 70-year resident of Atkinson, loved to drive there every day. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 34 years, are a brother, Lester Buck and his wife, Olive, of Sebec; four stepchildren, Cathy Marr and her husband, John, of Summerfield, Fla., Mark Hanson of Kokomo, Ind., Tim Hanson of Dixmont and his fianc?e, Peggie Black, of Bangor and Steve Hanson and his wife, Diane, of Newport; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and one nephew. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Living Word Assembly of God Church, Dover-Foxcroft, with the Rev. Tom Bruce and the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. Spring burial will be at Atkinson Cemetery.
