Clayton Stubbs

PEORIA AZ AND BANGOR - Clayton "Rossie" Stubbs, 82, died July 30, 2008, at Hospice of The Valley. He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Milo, the son of William and Eva (Kinney) Stubbs. Clayton graduated from Milo High School, Class of 1943. He served in World War II in the Army in both European and Pacific theaters. After the military he attended the University of Maine, Orono, and went to work in the automotive parts industry. He then married Marilyn Roberts of East Dover and they had four children. He was active in St. Andrews Masonic Lodge, Tuscan Chapter Eastern Star and Anah Temple Shrine, where he was a chanter. He was an active member of First Methodist Church, Bangor. He later retired to Peoria, Ariz., where he married Linda Leary. He is survived by wife, Linda Leary Stubbs; two sons, Alan and wife, Bette Stubbs, of Brownville and Scott and wife, Linda Stubbs, of Carmel; two granddaughters, Jennifer Stubbs of Rhode Island and Amy Stubbs of Wyoming; two sisters, Gloria Lutterell of Milo and Leona Newman of Goulds-boro; stepdaughter, Myra Phillips and family of Arizona; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Marilyn (Roberts) Stubbs; son, Brent Stubbs; daughter, Sandra Stubbs; sisters, Barbara Edgerly and Muriel Lovell; and brothers, Bryan Stubbs and Erroll Stubbs. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Rossie's life 11 a.m. Aug. 16 at Milo Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date.
