Robert Lee Redifer

BOWERBANK - Robert Lee Redifer, 70, formerly of Middletown, N.Y., died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, in Bowerbank. The son of the late Roy and Catherine Bailey Redifer, he was born June 27, 1937, in Middletown, N.Y. He served his country as a sergeant in the Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959. In the 1960s Bob became a member of CSEA and helped institute the career ladder development. He worked in mental health for 33 years, beginning at Otisville Training School for Boys, then Mattawan Correctional Facility. He was hand chosen as one of the start up team for Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Center during its inception. Bob, affectionately known as Willard, was a member of Council 82 and was a Little League coach for many years. He had the first girl allowed to play baseball in Orange County on his team. He adored his grandchildren, loved the Cubs, his son-in-law's racing and NASCAR. Bob was also an avid hunter. In addition to his wife, Vicky, Robert is survived by one son, Roy L. Redifer of Anchorage, Alaska; one stepson, Jason Kotara and his fiance, Joanna Hanscom, of Bucksport; one daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" and her husband, Dominic Roselli, of Middletown, N.Y.; his sister, Nancy Bedford and her companion, Albert Mydosh, of Otisville; his mother-in-law, Gertrude Sarinsky of New Windsor; brother-in-law, David Sarinsky and his wife, Jacie, of New Windsor; three beloved grandchildren, Angela, Dominic and Anthony Roselli; many nieces and nephews; loving cousin, Ronald Bailey of Starrucca, Pa.; uncle, Emmanuel Ratner of Westbury, N.Y.; and many friends from Maine. Visitation hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, N.Y. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 12, at the funeral home, where burial will be held after at Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, N.Y. A celebration of Bob's life to be held in Maine will be announced at a later date.
