Phyllis Eliza Edgerly

DOVER-FOXCROFT - Phyllis Eliza (Hoxie) Edgerly, 84, wife of the late Elwood H. Edgerly, passed away May 31, 2008, at a local nursing home. She was born June 17, 1923, in Orneville, the daughter of Charles F. and Gladys E. (Bishop) Hoxie. Phyllis was a member of the neighborhood extension club and a former member of the Maine Rebekahs Lodge. She had worked at Cal's Market, Dover-Foxcroft. Phyllis was an avid quilter and was well known for her quilts. She also enjoyed making hand-braided rugs. There were many brides throughout the years who were lucky enough to have one of Phyllis' wedding cakes, which she loved creating for them. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Elwood; twin daughters, Lois and Janice; six sisters, Leona Mitchell, Pauline Grindle, Verna Mulherin, Doris Willinski, Beatrice Lyford and Marguerite Hoxie; and two brothers, Keith and Ted Hoxie. Phyllis is survived by her three daughters, Linda Clemens of Poulan, Ga., Kathy Thomas of Dover-Fox-croft and Vicki Palmer and her husband, Edward, of Dover-Foxcroft; two sons, Charles and his wife, Judith and Elwood and his wife, Donna, all of Dover-Foxcroft; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grand-children also survive her. She leaves behind two special sisters, Beth Hesketh and Cora Perkins of Dover-Foxcroft. The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice caregivers, Maxine, Teri and Mary, who helped care for her while she was home; and to the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for their care given to Phyllis during her stay at the facility. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxroft, where funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, June 5. Burial will be in the family lot at Dover Cemetery.
