Earla Towne Nelson

BROWNVILLE - Earla T. Nelson, 79, wife of the late Alfred N. Nelson, died May 21, 2008, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born March 22, 1929, in Milo, the daughter of Earle and Barbara (Strout) Towne. A graduate of Milo High School, Class of 1946, Mrs. Nelson had worked at the Ben Franklin Store, Milo, for many years. She had been a member of the Maine Poet Society since 1974. She is survived by a son, Michael of Brownville; a daughter, Brenda Stoner of Syracuse, N.Y.; two brothers, Marvin Towne of Milo and Richard Towne of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two half sisters, Jeannie Larlee of Hudson, N.H., and Linda Lessard of Dexter; two half brothers, Ronald Towne of Milo and David Towne of Bangor; three grandchildren, seven great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Jan in 1987. Graveside memorial services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor David Mumford officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Three Rivers Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 218, Milo, ME 04463. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
