BRADFORD - Lucy N. Cates, 67, wife of the late Linwood Cates, died May 15, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Brownville, the daughter of John and Velzora (Stevens) Hughes. Lucy was devoted to her family and enjoyed collecting pictures of them all. She will be sadly missed by her bird, Gracie. She was predeceased by her husband, Linwood Cates; her three sons, Maurice, Lance and Michael McIntosh; two brothers, John and Maurice Hughes; and two grandchildren, T.J. McIntosh and Joseph Chase. She is survived by her four beloved children, Cheryl Peters and her husband, Sonny, of Bradford, Deanna Hughes and her husband, Danny, of Dover-Foxcroft, Terry McIntosh of Bradford and Mark McIntosh and his wife, Jennifer, of Garland; two brothers, Richard Hughes and his wife, Carol, and Henry Hughes, all of Sebec; two sisters, Shirley Lowe and her husband, William, of Hopkington, Mass., and Bessie Gray of Florida and Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Jeannette Hughes of Sebec; 12 grandchildren, Rachel McIntosh, Alta Peters, Tracie Peters, Mindy Peters, Bessy McIntosh, Deanna McIntosh, Bud McIntosh, Ryan McIntosh, Jacob Hughes, Laci Hughes, Brian Peters and Harold Peters; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Isaiah Hill officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
