Lendall H. Nevens

BROWNVILLE JCT. - Lendall H. Nevens, 79, passed away Nov. 15, 2007, with his loving son, Jeff; and his companion, Margaret, by his side after a battle with heart disease, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born Dec. 8, 1927, in North Leeds, the son of Fred and Florabell (Brown) Haines. A 1946 graduate of Gould Academy, Len served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. He attended the University of Maine in Orono, graduating in 1953 and then worked 47 years for Yonkers Construction, New York, as an engineer. Len moved to Maine in 1999 to live with his son and best friend, Jeff, and had spent the past four winters in Dade City, Fla., enjoying good fri-ends and good weather. Len enjoyed fly-fishing and watch-ing the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of Mount Katahdin Senior Citizens, serving as president for two years. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Nevens of Brownville Junction and Gregory Nevens of New Brunswick, Canada; a brother, Charles Haines and his wife, Mary Lee, of Bethel; his loyal companion, Margaret MacDonald of Brownville Junction; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred Q. Haines. A memorial Mass will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at St. Paul the Apostle and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Milo, with Father James Robichaud, celebrant. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
