BROWNVILLE JCT. - Eleanor I. Leathers, 79, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital, after a long illness. She was born July 24, 1928, in Dover, the daughter of Joseph and Marion (Clukey) Drummond. Ellie had been a licensed practical nurse, retiring from Mayo Regional Hospital in 1993. She spent her retirement doing the things she loved, reading, knitting, doing puzzles and enjoying her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved baking and sharing with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, John O. Leathers of Brownville Junction; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bob Hogan of Sebec; her son, John Leathers of Newburgh; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Gail Leathers of Medford; grandchildren, Justin Hogan of Portland, John Brady Hogan of Orono, Tucker Leathers of Medford and Sara-Kate and John O. Leathers of Newburgh. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Mac and Pat Drummond of Abbot, Anne Honeycutt of Jasper, Texas, and Mary Owens of Chesapeake, Va.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her youngest son, David Leathers in 2005. A private graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in the family lot at Abbot Cemetery. A gathering for her close friends and family will be held after at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Sebec.
