Duane Everett Coburn

BROWNVILLE - Duane Everett Coburn, 69, husband of Gloria Althea (Stewart) Coburn, died peacefully May 12, 2007, surrounded by his loving family at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Milo, the son of Charles and Margaret Ann (Swan) Coburn. A graduate of Brownville Junction High School, Class of 1955, he served his country with the U.S. Army for three years. He was employed at Great Northern Paper Co. for 39 years and as a deputy sheriff for the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Department for 35 years, where he especially enjoyed doing transports with Ivory and working with George. Duane loved to hunt, fish, and spend time at camp with his family and especially his brother, Bert. He was a member of the Brownville Junction High School Alumni Association, the Bernard Jones American Legion Post No. 92, the K.I. Riders and the National Rifle Association. Duane will be fondly remembered by everyone for his willingness to help people. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gloria of Brownville; his children, Duane "Butch" Chambers and partner, Stacey, of Meriden, Conn., Tina Durant and husband, Eric, Lisa Robinson and husband, Robert, and Beth Valvo and husband, David, all of Brownville; his grandchildren, with whom he so enjoyed spending time, Maryann Phillips, Cody Chambers, Noah Chambers, Allison Durant, Ryan Robinson, Derek Robinson, Justin Valvo and Megan Valvo; his brothers, Bertram Coburn of Brownville, Jackie Coburn and wife, Doris, of Brownville Junction; his sisters, Doris McAfee and husband, Robert, of Portland, Gale Foulkes and husband, Paul, of Williamsburg; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Friends are invited to call 11 a.m. until time of funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Brownville Junction United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michelle St. Cyr officiating. Burial will be at Pinetree Cemetery, Brownville Junction.
