MILO - Rebecca A. Russell, 89, wife of Gordon William Russell, died July 25, 2006, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Milo, the daughter of Henry and Hazel (Weaver) Ricker. Rebecca attended local schools and graduated from Milo High School. She married Gordon June 30, 1934 and moved to Connecticut, where she raised her family. After Gordon's retirement, they moved back to Medford. She was a member of the Brownville Community Church, where she had served as deaconess and was a member of the Missionary Circle and the Social Committee. She was a member of Echo Chapter No. 98 OES, Orion Rebekah Chapter No. 16, the Milo Garden Club, the Brownville Extension, the Brownville Snowmobile Club, and Katahdin Senior Citizens. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gordon of Milo; her children, Philip and his wife, Louise Russell, of Hampton, Conn., Carolyn Zima of Burlington, Conn., Janis and her husband, George Jones, of Wilton, Sharon and her husband, Dave Pollard, of Chester, Vt. and Gregory and his wife, Linda Russell, of Medford; a sister, Joyce Merchant of Wolcott, Conn.; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Many of her loving family were with her when she went to be with the Lord. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, with the Rev. Darren Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. After the services, all are invited to the Brownville Community Church for a time of fellowship and sharing.
