Lawrence G. Boobar

MEDFORD - Lawrence G. Boobar, 78, husband of the late Virginia B. (Decker) Boobar, died June 19, 2006, in Medford. He was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Medford, the son of Daniel R. and Arlene (Heal) Boobar. A U.S. Army veteran, he had worked as a woodsman for most of his life. He was a bus driver for 13 years, worked for the B & A Railroad, was a caretaker for the Medford Housing Corporation and was a millwright and sawyer. A highly respected member of his community, he was a member of the Cold Brook Grange and a former sexton and fire warden for the town of Medford. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed fourwheeling, hunting and fishing and who will be remembered for his bean hole beans. Lawrence was predeceased by a son, Larry. He is survived by four sons, Timothy and wife, Debra, of Medford, Raymond and wife, Bonnie, of Bangor, Jeff and wife, Laura, of Medford, Mark and wife, Christine, of Medford; a daughter, Marie Drinkwater and husband, Arthur, of Medford; two brothers, Waverly Boobar and wife, Renie, of Howland, Ronald Boobar of Ebeemee; two sisters, Ivolene Clapp of Maxfield and Marsha Boobar of Orono. He leaves eight beloved grandchildren, Angel, Amanda, Larry, Janis, Sarah, Daniel, Jared and Levi; five treasured great-grandchildren, Darren, Dylan, LJ, Paige and Gabrielle. Graveside memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2006, at the family lot in Medford Center Cemetery, with his son, Raymond Boobar officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo.
