James S. Taylor

DOVER-FOXCROFT - James S. Taylor, 88, husband of the late Genevieve B. (Olsen) Taylor, died July 12, 2005, at a local nursing home. He was born May 3, 1917, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, and came to the United States as a child to live with the John E. Burnett family in Brownville Junction. Jim graduated from Brownville Junction High School and soon thereafter was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railroad. He later served with the U.S. Army in the Persian Gulf area during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1945 he returned to work at the CPR and married Genevieve Bertha Olson of Dover-Foxcroft where they had two children, Allen and Cheryl. He was active for 50 years in the Chadbourne Merrill American Legion Post No. 29 and in the Mosaic Lodge No. 52 AF & AM. Jim's wife, Gerry passed away in 1992. He leaves in addition to his son and daughter, three grandchildren, Julie Hall Massey, Derek Hall, and Brian Hall and their children. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at Pinetree Cemetery in Brownville Junction, with Pastor David Mumford, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to made to Dover-Foxcroft Meals for Me, 450 Essex St., Bangor, 04401. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
