Peggy Jo Youngblood

BREWER AND BANGOR - Peggy Jo Youngblood, 62, died peacefully at her home in Brewer, Sept. 25, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Washburn, Dec. 1, 1941, the daughter of Harry Ham and Mary Matilda (Delong) Brewer. Peggy was a graduate of Washburn High School and Husson College. Loved and admired by her family and friends for her integrity, fierce independence, organizational skills, fast wit and strong will. Peggy worked for many years at Capri Street School in Brewer, where she helped create the Brewer Children's Fund which she continued to support until her death. She was a tireless worker and fund raiser for Cancer Care of Maine, Isaac Farrar Mansion, Anah Shrine, capital campaigns for necessary medical equipment for the Bangor area. Peggy cherished her work for the community as an EMMC auxiliary board officer, especially as a producer of Follies 95; salute to the USO and Follies 2001; Paul Bunyan and the Aliens. Equally important to her, was her position on the board of directors of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was also involved in numerous clubs and organizations past officer Altrusa International, ETE Epislon Tau Epislon, Quipus, past officer PEO Sisterhood chapter B, Red Hat Society, past officer Epsilon Delta Alumni Sorority, past officer of the YWCA board of directors, and former chair person of the spring fair, Isaac Farrar Mansion Committee, past officer of the Sunshine Club of Anah Shriners, Brewer Children's fund, corporate member of Community Health & Counseling Services, past president of Maine Educational Secretaries Association, past president of Penquis Chapter of MESA and the Welcome Wagon. After years of organizing the annual Aroostook County Party of her beloved Aroostook County, Peggy in more recent years spent the majority of her time nurturing grandchildren and scrapbooking memories. Surviving are her husband, Edward M. Youngblood; one daughter, Leslie Farrington and her husband, Matt; one son, E. Michael Youngblood and his wife, Tammi; grandchildren, Jana Marie, E. Mathew, Cassidy Leigh and Emma Lyn; two brothers, Isaac Brewer of Benton City, Wash., and Vaughn Brewer and family of Caribou; nieces and nephews. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., immediately following the funeral Tuesday. Through the course of her treatments, Peggy received many units of blood. Those wishing to honor her in a special way, could do so by donating blood.


Funeral services for Peggy Jo Youngblood will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., immediately following the funeral.
