Florence M. Bean

CORINTH - Florence M. Bean, 84, the wife of Willis Bean, died June 27, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Bangor, the daughter of Everett and Alice (Strickland) Hodsdon. She was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy and went on to work at Chance Vought Aircraft in Bridgeport, Conn., building Navy fighter planes in World War II. She then worked for many years in the office at Freeses in Bangor and then later for Porteous. Her joy in life was her family and also she especially enjoyed Maine beaches, her favorite spot being Sebec Lake. Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, Willis; three children, Brenda (Bean) Martin and her husband, Ralph, of Portland, Nancy (Bean) Arnold and her husband, Gary, of Bradford and Jeff Bean and his wife, Rita, of Corinth; seven grandchildren, Chad Reed of Scarborough, Derick Reed of Mountain Grove, Mo., Durward and Missy Arnold and Alicia (Arnold) Harlow of Bradford and Shannon and Ryan Bean of Corinth; nine great-grandchildren, Barrett and Brady Reed of Scarborough, Kylee, Jazmine and Robyn Reed of Mountain Grove, Mo., Janessa, Dakota and Dylan Arnold of Bradford and Alex Harlow of Bradford. She was predeceased by four sisters, Laura Bowdoin, Mary Johnson, Edith Hodsdon and Louise Hodsdon; and brother, Everett Hodsdon Jr. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Rd., Corinth. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Bean officiating. Burial will be at Corinthian Cemetery in Corinth.
