Alternative Spring Break Program held

DERBY During the week of March 18, Angela Smart of Derby led a group of students on an alternative Spring Break trip to Shalker Heights, Ohio. The group of 10 students worked at Somerset Point which is an assisted living home for the elderly. The students worked one on one with the elderly as well as performing other community service projects around Somerset Point.

Alternative Spring Break (ABS) is a substance free program run by students. ABS seeks to raise awareness of global issues through education and service experiences. There are 10 ABS trips that perform services all over the country from the University of Vermont, where Smart attends school. She is the daughter of Cindy and Randy Smart or Derby.
