Local UMaine students to perform in live broadcast

ORONO University of Maine students Josh Guthrie, a music education major from Brownville, and Michael Carolin, a music education major from

Dover-Foxcroft, will be performing with the UMaine Jazz Ensemble in a live broadcast on Maine Public Radio (MPR) on April 12 from 9 to 10:30pm.

The performance will be broadcast on MPR's seven stations that cover a listening area which includes Maine, New Hampshire, parts of upstate Vermont, northeastern Massachusetts, and New Brunswick, Canada. The broadcast will also be available at MPR's website http://www.mainepublicradio.com.

Guthrie and Carolin are members of the rhythm section, playing bass and guitar respectively.

The group is directed by UMaine music professor and nationally renowned jazz artist Karel Lidral. Lidral will be performing as featured soloist during the broadcast.

The UMaine Jazz Combo will also be performing on the May 2 concert.
