Penquis Cruisers 'Cruize-In'

Article from The Eastern Gazette, Vol. 148, No. 24, June 15, 2002

MILO - The Penquis Cruizers will be holding their 13th Annual Cruize-In at the JSI Store Fixtures parking lot on Route 11 in Milo on June 30. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Susan Worcester, coordinator for the Cruize-In, says that this is not a car show. While there are a few trophies awarded at the end of the day, this is an opportunity for people to display their cars for the public, enjoy the company of others who share their automotive interests, listen to the music and participate in the days activities.

There will be giveaways throughout the day. Music will be provided by Paul Hanson of Bangor. The Three Rivers Kiwanis will provide refreshments. There will be a "Rap Contest" to see who has the loudest car held at noon. As always there will be a 50-50 raffle and a Coca-Cola Diner Clock from the Danbury Mint will be raffled as well. An auction of car related items as well as gift certificates and merchandise from local merchants will begin at 1 p.m. The trophies and raffle winners will be announced at the end of the auction.

Trophies will be given for People's Choice (selected by participants). Long Distance Award, Hard Luck Story (in connection with attendance at the Cruize-In), Vehicle In Restoration, the Rap Contest and Best Appearing Club.

A new attraction this year will be a display of slot racing cars by the Maine HO Racing Association. These are the race tracks that many played with as children. They will be able to play again at the Cruize-In.

A $2 donation for adults and $1 for children will be taken at the gate. For more info contact Fred or Susan Worcester at 965-8070
