LADD BROTHERS ENGINEWORKS - One of Sebec's newest family owned businesses has just opened on the Milo Road, offering complete automotive and small engine service at their newly - renovated location. Pictured from left are : Mark Ladd, Richard Ladd, Jr. with his son Caleb, and Martha Ladd.

SEBEC When your favorite hobby also happens to be your profession, you know you've found the perfect career. That's what happened with two local businessmen who decided to put their skills as automotive service specialists to work in the community.

"We're more than just mechanics, we're enthusiasts," said Richard Ladd Jr., who operates the business with his brother Mark.

The pair opened Ladd Brothers Engineworks in a newly-renovated facility on the Milo Road last month, offering the area reasonably-priced work in a family-friendly atmosphere.

"We're a family-oriented business," he said. "Our goal is to accommodate everybody's needs and not turn anybody away."

And when the Ladd brothers say everybody, they mean just about everybody. Their business doesn't stop at cars. They also offer ATV, small engine and marine work, in addition to towing service.

"We plan on being able to grow and meet the needs of the area," Ladd explained. "One of the main reasons why we opened is because we can offer things not too many other people do - like... A/C work, which we specialize in, complete engine and transmission repair (and more)."

The automotive business was a natural choice for Mark arid Richard Ladd, because it was a business they grew up in.Together the pair has between 25 and 30 years of combined experience in their field.

"Our father and his brother did auto repair, and we grew up enjoying automobiles in general and their history," he said.

A family history of servicing vehicles and a love for their profession has given the brothers a business philosophy that makes them an asset to the local business community.

"We try to be as versatile as we can be," said Ladd. "We're not looking to get rich, we're just trying to make a living and put as much as we can back into the business and the area."

Ladd Brothers Engineworks is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at their Route 16 shop, located near the Sebec Four Corners. For more information, they can be reached at 564-3300.
