ORNEVILLE A Bangor teenager died last week after he and another man were involved in a car accident on Route 11 late Wednesday night.

Trooper Adam Coover said 18-year-old John Martin of Bangor lost control of his F-350 Ford truck, striking a utility pole, around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 21, keeping the road blocked to through traffic for over an hour.

"He was traveling south towards Bradford, and the vehicle left the roadway on the opposite lane, crashed into a CMP pole which forced the vehicle up on the roadway again, into the other lane, and back into the ditch... At this point, the operator (Martin) was Lifeflighted to EMMC, and the passenger was taken down by ambulance," he said.

Spokesman Steve McCausland said Martin died at EMMC due to injuries sustained from the accident. His passenger, 37-year-old Earl Parfitt, sustained some leg injuries, but was expected to recover.
