Police recover stolen vehicle in Sebec

Article from The Piscataquis Observer, Vol. 165, No. 1, January 01, 2003

SEBEC Police this week recovered a stolen vehicle on an abandoned woods road in Sebec.

Deputy Dave Smiley of the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office said a Sebec resident reported the 1993 Honda Civic on Dec. 24, after it had been abandoned for more than 24 hours on the road, off from the Stagecoach Road.

Smiley said that a check on the car's license plate and vehicle identification number came back that the car had been reported stolen in 2001 from a resident of Cambridge, Mass.

Damage to the vehicle included minor scratches to the exterior and the interior was "torn up," Smiley said. The sound system was ripped out of the car and the ignition area had been hot-wired.

Smiley said he reported the vehicle's location to the Massachusetts State Police. The vehicle is impounded in a Dover-Foxcroft lot.
