Penquis Valley joins statewide library effort

MILO The Penquis Valley Information Center has joined the "Maine Libraries: Something for Everyone" campaign as part of a statewide effort to encourage Mainers to take advantage of the many services provided by all types of libraries throughout the state. The focus of the effort will be to encourage people in Maine to discover the many services provided by their local libraries and the valuable collections they maintain,

The campaign officially kicked off April 7, 2003, with Governor John Baldacci at a media conference at the Maine State Library in Augusta. Penquis Valley Library Media Specialist Nancy B. Grant was present at the ceremonies. Nancy is President of the Maine Association of School Libraries. At the press conference, MaineLibraries.com, the new online gateway to all Maine libraries was unveiled and campaign events throughout the state were announced to honor National Library Week, April 6-12, 2003.

Penquis Valley Information Center will be joining libraries throughout the state by planning special events during the week. One event is the teaching of how to use the electronic card catalog. Student library workers are teaching its use to staff in the building. Any area public who wishes to leam how to access the resources of the school, please call Nancy B. Grant, 943-7346 ext, 212. The student library workers will be glad to show you the keystrokes !
