Penquis student gets scholarship from Best Buy

Article from The Piscataquis Observer, Vol. 165, No. 24, June 11, 2003

MILO Best Buy Children's Foundation has awarded a scholarship to Jean Hamlin, a 2003 graduate of Penquis Valley High School. Hamlin is the daughter of Neil and Barb Hamlin and plans to attend Dartmouth next fall.

This year, the Best Buy Children's Foundation, through its partnership with Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America, Inc. (CSFA), awarded more than $2 million dollars to graduating high school seniors and college undergraduates across the country. Up to four students in every U.S. Congregational District and the District of Columbia, 1,743 students overall, will receive a scholarship valued from $500 to $2,500.

Scholarships were awarded to students who volunteer time to their communities, excel in academics, participate in extra curricular activities, and are entering or attending an accredited university, college or technical school.

The program is promoted by Dollars for Scholars and administered by Scholarship Management Services, both departments of CSFA.
