Brownville summer recreation programs

BROWNVILLE The Brownville Recreation Department announces programs being offered in 2003.If interested in any of the programs herein, please show up on the first date of each program (unless otherwise specified).

As in the past, volunteers to help with our programs are welcomed. Please contact Dean Bellatty or the Town Office if interested, or call with any questions at 965-8419 or leave a message at the office at 965-2561.

Soccer Clinic - Co-ed for all ages offered in combination with the Milo Recreation Department. The instructor is Rex Webb. A separate pamphlet will be included with this program.

Davis Field Basketball Court - The basketball court is open to the public and there will be lighting for evening play. The Davis Field area, including the basketball court, is now a designated tobacco-free area. The appropriate hours for the play will be posted.

Introduction to baseball/softball -Offered to co-ed, ages 3-5. Program starts on Monday, June 23. Practice is at Davis Field from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, with Brandon McKenzie and Amanda Martin coaching.

Pee Wee baseball - Offered to co-ed, ages 6-9. Program starts on Monday, June 23 and ends in late July. Practice is at Davis Field from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Game dates will be posted. Brandon McKenzie and Amanda Martin will be coaching.

Arts and Crafts - Offered to co-ed ages 5 and up. Program starts on Monday, June 23 and ends on Wednesday, July 23. Crafts run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at the B.J.H.S. Alumni Hall on Railroad Avenue. Amanda Martin will be the instructor.

Portland Seadogs Trip - This trip will be open to the public on a "first to sign up" basis. The game takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29. There is a $10 per person fee to cover the cost of tickets and transportation. More information will be available at a later date.

Village Playground - The town playground is located on Church Street in the village. It is available for children to use anytime; however, starting on Thursdays, supervision will be provided from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. between the dates of June 26 and July 24 (weather permitting). ,

Little League Baseball - Co-ed for ages 9-12 starting in May and ending in August. We have a total of six teams between the two recreation departments. Each team will play 10-12 scheduled games plus the playoffs. A schedule will be posted at a later date.

Fun Day - Every Saturday, with the exception of July 5, a variety of games will be offered at the Davis Field for all ages from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. weather permitting. The program will start on June 21 and end on July 26. Some of the games being offered will be basketball, kickball, and wiffleball. Brandon McKenzie and Amanda Martin will be supervising.
