House improvement funds available in Dover-Foxcroft area

Article from The Piscataquis Observer, Vol. 165, No. 30, July 23, 2003

DOVER-FOXCROFT Residents of Dover-Foxcroft, Sebec, Sangerville and Atkinson who fit within certain income guidelines are now eligible to apply for funds through a housing rehabilitation program that coordinates and pays for home improvements to single-family, owner-occupied homes.

Grant administrator Ron Harriman said the program, now in its 11 th year in the Dover-Foxcroft area, has been successful in helping over 150 families make much-needed improvements in their homes to such things as heating and septic systems. Only seven of the grants are given across the state during each cycle, Harriman said, and the continued success of Dover-Foxcroft's application is a testament to the involvement of residents and town officials in the program.

Harriman said income guidelines have increased since the program's last round. Now, a family of two can earn up to$ 28,400, while a family of four can earn up to $35,500. For more information about the program, call Harriman at 1-800-648-8335.
