Rest stop crash

A two-car crash Friday on the Milo Road in Sebec. near the state rest area. sent a passenger to the hospital, Eva Hamilton. 84, of Brownville Junction sustained lacerations and was taken to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft. She was riding in a 1993 Chevrolet sedan with her greatgranddaughter, 17-year-old Ashley Hamilton, according to Maine State Police Trooper Marc Poulin. The Chevrolet was headed west on Route 11 toward Dover-Foxcroft when it collided with a 1998 Subaru station wagon driven by John Brower, 63, of Rome, Maine, as it pulled left into the rest stop. The Subaru landed in the ditch, taking out the state Department of Transportation rest area sign. The crash was reported by cell phone at 1:10 p m The cause of the crash was not determined. Trooper Poulin investigated, and Piscataquis County Sheriff's Investigator Allen Emerson assisted with traffic at the scene. No charges are anticipated. Poulin said. The Chevrolet was totalled in the crash: the Subaru sustained $6,000 in damages.
