Article from The Piscataquis Observer, Vol. 165, No. 47, November 19, 2003

BROWNVILLE Chad Washbum, a sophomore at Husson College in Bangor, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Maine Higher Education Assistance Foundation at a ceremony held at the Bangor college on Monday, Nov. 17.

Washbum, the son of Leigh and Joyce-Ann Washburn of Brownville Junction, is a graduate of Penquis Valley High School in Milo. He is currently majoring in accounting in a five-year master's degree program.

MeHEAF was established in 1950 to support a fund for student loans. The loans are presented by the Maine Bankers Association Board of Directors.

This year, MeHEAF trustees selected 13 Maine colleges and universities to receive scholarships. The participating school chooses the student scholarship recipients. All recipients must be a Maine high school graduate, be majoring in a business-related subject and be in good academic standing.
