Article from The Piscataquis Observer, Vol. 166, No. 1, January 07, 2004

DOVER-FOXCROFT Piscataquis County has been awarded federal funds under the Emergency Food And Shelter National Board Program. Piscataquis County has been chosen to receive $11,195 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

The selection was made by a National Board and was charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.

A local board will be distributing the funds among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area. Piscataquis County has distributed Emergency Food and Shelter funds previously with Living Word Assembly of God Church, The Moosehead Associates, Monson United Church of Christ, and Park Street United Methodist Church participating. These agencies were responsible for providing meals and shelter for those in need in their area.

There will be a meeting of the Local Board Thursday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Extension Office at 165 East Main St. in Dover-Foxcroft to discuss the distribution of the supplemental funds.
