Milo man arrested after assaulting woman, officer

MILO A 29-year-old Milo man was arrested Saturday and charged with domestic assault, criminal threatening and assault on an officer.

Kevin J. Gerrish is alleged to have assaulted a woman, and upon arrest for that allegation, head-butted Milo Police Officer Derek Hersey, according to Milo Police Chief Todd Lyford.

The woman flagged down Milo / Brownville Police Officer Nick Clukey around 9 p.m. on a street in Milo. According to Lyford, there had been physical contact between Gerrish and the victim but she was not injured to the point that she required medical attention.

When Officers Clukey and Hersey went to put hand-cuffs on Gerrish; during the arrest, Gerrish allegedly head-butted Hersey. Officer Hersey also was not seriously injured in the assault, Lyford said.

Gerrish was taken to Piscataquis County Jail in Dover-Foxcroft, but later made bail. His court date was not set as of publication.
