The LaGrange Fire Dept has had an ambulance donated to us at NO charge!

Because of this donation Glenburn & Hudson Ambulance Service presented a proposal to our selectmen last night asking that they be allowed to lease our ambulance and bring coverage to our town. With this lease G&H is going to be responsible for: all hiring, staffing our station from 8:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday (and have on call personnel for the other times), all insurance coverages and liabilities, licensing fees, upkeep of the ambulance and supplying the ambulance, training, payroll - basically everything will be covered by them. It is important to note that you DON'T have to be a member of LaGrange Fire Department in order for G&H to hire you. The only cost to us, the LaGrange Fire Department, is the increase for the Fire Department's. heat and lights due to the staffing of our station 5 days a week 8:00am to 4:00pm.

G&H already has a mutual aid agreement with Three Rivers Ambulance(Milo) and Penobscot Valley Hospital(Howland), so in the event that our ambulance or staff weren't available one of those providers would have that shift for coverage.

G&H is also going to have a second ambulance for us in the event our crews are on a call. This ambulance service is completely separate from the Fire Department and the Town of LaGrange.

In order for the FD to accept the donation of the ambulance or for the town to go into a contract with G&H, we have to have a town vote. Due to the closeness of the regular town meeting they are going to do this at our regular town meeting which is going to be either March 19th or 26th.

We feel that this will be a huge asset to our town! Not only will you have an ambulance here in the town of LaGrange you will also have job opportunities for EMTs and drivers. They also will be staffing a paramedic here in town at scheduled times. If you are not an EMT, but are interested in being one, G&H is going to be looking for people like you. G&H has also agreed in the contract that if their is any profit at the end of the quarter/year all that money will be put back into the LaGrange Fire Department.

We are looking for all the support we can get. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us and if we don't have your answer then we can put you in contact with someone who does. Please feel free to pass this information on to others. We would like to have everyone in town have as much knowledge as possible before town meeting to best understand and vote on this proposal.

Thank you for your time.
