Article from The Piscataquis Observer, Vol. 166, No. 41, October 13, 2004

MILO Evergreen will play at a Coffee House at the Milo Town Hall Arts center on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. This is being sponsored by the Three Rivers Kiwanis to help finance the projects they carry on throughout the year, especially for children in the area.

Evergreen has been playing around New England since 1991 and played in Milo last October to a captivated audience. The group's eclectic style blends elements of bluegrass, folk, blues, old-time, country, swing, and jazz into a seamless mix of upbeaat, energizing music that appeals to a wide range of listeners. Smooth, tight harmonies, solid instrumentation, original interpretations and strong songwriting make this fine band worthwhile listening. Ever-changing instrumentals and vocal blends and goodnatured banter onstage keep their performances engaging and fast paced, and constantly evolving repertoir keeps the material new and fresh, leaving fans looking forward to the next Evergreen show.

The band is made up of Joe Kennedy playing the harmonica and bass along with doing vocals; Nellie Kennedy playing bass.guitar, mandolin, autoharp.and vocals; Chris Prickitt playing guitar, accordian, and fiddle (he can also call a fine contra dance); and Steve Chiasson singing and playing bass. These four musicians have been a part of many other groups and have made recordings and written songs which they use when they perform.

The Coffee House on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Milo Town Hall Arts center will provide a great evening of wonderful music and entertainment from the group Evergreen. Desserts and drinks will be on sale, and there will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Admission at the door.
