Sebec couple celebrates 58th wedding anniversary

SEBEC Pauleta and Del Engle of Sebec celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary at Saw Kill Farm in Milford, Perm., the home of their niece Suzanne Geissler and her husband, Dave. Guests included many family and friends. Mrs. Engle is the former Pauleta Smith of Morristown, N.J. The couple married Nov. 14, 1946 in Madison, N.J.

Mr. Engle enlisted in the Merchant Marines when he was 17, and the couple married soon after his discharge two years later. After their marriage, Mr. Engle worked for Dugan Bros. in New Jersey. During the Korean War, Del Engle served with the 3rd Infantry Division and was a sergant serving as line chief.

He was awarded an Army Commendation Medal with a pendant for outstanding performance of duty in Korea.After his discharge, he returned to work and became a well known service manager in New Jersey. Since moving to Maine in 1980, the Engles have lived at their home at Apple Blossom Farm on the Milo Rd., Sebec, and enjoyed their cabin at Schoodic Lake.
