Center Theatre to offer Free Movies to the UnemployedMay 12, 2009 - TRCThe Center Theatre, in cooperation with Penquis, is going to begin offering free movies to members of the community who have lost their jobs. The Theatre, which recently began offering movie passes for sale to the general public, also wanted to make them available to those who might not be able to afford to see a movie. “We especially want children and families to benefit from this program,” said Alan Bray a Theatre Board member who has been instrumental in getting the program off the ground. “Many of our movies are oriented towards families and we know that with times being so difficult being able to go see a movie could help, at least help for a couple hours.” The passes will be good for 5 movie admissions at the Center Theatre and participants may request additional passes after they are used. The program will begin in early May and continue through the summer. Penquis will distribute the passes as part of their efforts to help those who have lost their jobs. Individuals may stop by the Dover-Foxcroft Office of Penquis on 50 North Street or call 564-7116 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday though Friday or they may go online to www.PiscataquisResources.org then click on the movie link to register.NOTE - This article reflects the views of the author and not necessarily those of the TRC Alliance Team.
