D-F : Tree Inventory Underway.March 26, 2008 - TRC The Town of Dover-Foxcroft will be conducting a tree inventory of publicly owned trees in the town.Funded by a $4,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service through its Project Canopy Program, the project includes listing town-owned trees by location, condition, species and size. A detailed map will be produced giving the GPS coordinates of the trees on town property.Coordinated by the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council, the inventory when completed will help Dover-Foxcroft improve the care and management of its community green spaces and increase the publicís awareness and appreciation of its tree heritage.The Board of Selectmen appointed a Tree Committee to oversee the project. Members of the Tree Committee include Cindy Freeman-Cyr, Jackie Robinson, Jane Stitham, Peter Brenc, and Stephen Tudor. Town Manager Jack Clukey serves as staff to the committee along with PCEDC Community Development Specialist Ken Woodbury.Kirby Ellis, a Maine licensed forester with a WoodWISE endorsement, has been retained to undertake the inventory.As part of the inventory, small aluminum tags will be affixed to the town-owned trees.
